ADAM Atkin's fine figures of 4-7 helped Marden earn promotion to Division One of the GB Liners Marches Cricket League.

The villagers, who have been playing at Canon Frome this season, beat Builth Wells 2nd by 51 runs.

Marden were bowled out for 113, with only Sam Pratley, who scored 43, posting anything worth of note.

But it did not matter as Marden ripped through the Builth Wells line-up.

Pete Atkin also snapped up four wickets, with Rupert Lawrence and Gavin Pugh claiming the other two.

Marden's win was helped by the fact that Dales, who were nearest challengers, saw their match against Weobley cancelled due to bad weather.

Division One champions Goodrich finished their season unbeaten after claiming a winning draw against Ledbury.

Going out of the division though are Brockhampton 3rd, who went down to a seven-wicket defeat against Crickhowell.

Canon Frome finish bottom, with their latest defeat being a 270-run hammering at the hands of Builth Wells.

Elsewhere, Garnons earned a winning draw against Woolhope that saw Guy Pearson Gregory score 139 runs, while Kington beat Luctonians by two wickets.

Division Three champions Colwall 3rd finished their season with a 36-run win against Eastnor 3rd, but Eastnor 4ths are celebrating after winning Division Four East thanks to a six-wicket win against Woolhope 2nd.

Herefordians finish second in the league, but did not play last Saturday due to opponents Brockhampton 4th conceding the match.

Burghill & Tillington won the western section of Division Four following a narrow 13-run victory over nearest challengers Moccas.
