HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle has asked supporters what they want from their team after shambolic defending saw them remarkably lose 5-4 against Coleshill Town on Tuesday night.

It was the second successive game that the Bulls had shipped three or more goals and they have already conceded 13 goals in the Midland Football League Premier Division so far this season.

"Everyone has their opinion and you're entitled to that as a supporter, but you've got to contemplate what you want from your team," said Beadle.

"Do you want them to play attractive football on the floor or do you want them to play what everyone else does?

"They have come and beaten us 5-4 on our own patch but have not played any football, they kicked everything long.

"Their manager even shouted at them when they made a few passes to keep kicking it long.

"So we've got to learn and learn fast because this is now the fourth game when we haven't defended at all and it's cost us again massively.

"It's easier for me and probably cheaper to get 6'4" defenders who have no ability but are happy to run up and down and head and kick it all day long and we won't play it from the back, we'll put two six-foot forwards up front and we'll just bash it at them all day.

"But one, I don't want to play that way and two, I don't think the fans want us to play that way."

Hereford opened the scoring through John Mills after 12 minutes, but amazingly were behind just five minutes later following goals from Dean Rathbone and Luke Barlone.

Back came the Bulls though, who equalised eight minutes from half-time from Pablo Haysham.

But Coleshill were again in front four minutes after the break through Giovanni Dainty before the same player made it 4-2 eight minutes later.

A Joel Edwards shot was saved by Coleshill goalkeeper Paul Hathaway 12 minutes from the time, but the ball kindly fell to Nathan Hughes who made no mistake.

Rathbone got his second goal of the night five minutes from time to make it 5-3 to Coleshill, but there was still time for Rob Purdie to slot home a penalty after Hughes was upended.

And Edwards even had a chance to make it 5-5, but his shot was deflected wide after a Coleshill defender had cleared the ball off the line.

Beadle added that may be his players have to be more brutal to cut out the sloppy mistakes.

"In open play, they didn't cause us any problems, we have caused our problems again and we have to stop it," he said.

"I can't go out there and get them by the scruff of the neck, that's what I want to do but I can't do it when they're on the pitch.

"If it continues, then we have to change it because it's not acceptable.

"We knew we weren't going to go into the league in August, but we now go into September and we need to make sure we're ready for Monday.

"And what better way to bounce back than in a derby game."
