HEREFORD FC chairman Jon Hale says the club still need plenty more volunteers in order to satisfy stadium regulations for the upcoming home friendly against FC United of Manchester.

More than 2,100 tickets have been sold for the game next Saturday – Hereford's first at Edgar Street – with a crowd of around 3,000 likely.

"We have got some of the old ones who were programme sellers and stewards in the past and they are going through a process at the moment, but we are probably 20 short of what we need by the regulations, so we are assessing that," said Hale.

"Part of the problem is that the FC United of Manchester game will probably be one of the biggest games of the season, but it is only a temporary problem."

FCUM fans can by tickets on the day and have been given an allocation of just over 600 for the Len Weston Stand.

"They did have an opportunity to sell tickets at their ground, but because they're moving grounds, they haven't really got the facilities to do that," said Hale.

"Their reaction was that they will bring 600.

"But we're fully confident that we will have a full compliment of stewards for the game."

A safety advisory meeting was held on Tuesday and Hale is confident a safety certificate would be granted in time for the FCUM game.

"We're just finishing off some loose ends but all of the different bodies have been extremely helpful," said Hale.

"We're getting into a position that the certificate can be granted by the local authority.

"We're very lucky that we have a ground that has been in the Football League that has plenty of exit gates."
