JACK Myers' 60 helped Eastnor to a winning draw against Shifnal in Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Division Two.

Myers' knock came off just 71 runs, which included nine fours and a six.

The result means that Eastnor are still just above the relegation zone in the league table, but Eastnor spokesman Malcolm Hughes was pleased with the result.

"It was a good batting performance," said Hughes.

"We lost the toss and the wicket was very bouncy.

"We lost a wicket from the second ball, which was unplayable, but we survived the first 10 overs after that and did well.

"We were 82-2 in the 23rd over and everyone chipped in after that."

The first wicket to fall was Clive Chadhani after he was caught by Chris Murrall off Jack Edwards, but Eastnor did well to weather the storm.

Shameer Ahmed was a useful partner to Mysers and steadily made 23 before he was the next to go.

Myers went soon after to leave Eastnor on 88-3, but Atiq Ur Rehman and Andrew Fisher knocked in some runs.

Ur Rehman made 35 and Fisher 26, while Joseph Madyembwa (24) also hit a surefire 24 off 29.

Eastnor eventually made 227-9 off their 55 overs but were unable to bowl Shifnal out.

Sajid Alidid take an early wicket by removing James Shaw, who was caught by Sunil Rahi but Shifnal soon got to 65 before Sam Cotter went.

Muhamed Ayub then starting the hitting ball around before Tareq Jamil got the wicket of opener Tom Collins, who had made 36.

Ayub went for 24 off 27 balls before Eastnor had Shifnal in at 105-5.

Bryna SAimmons and Jack Edwards then went before Ur Rehman clean bowled Iain Mills.

Shaun Lorimer made 32 before he too went, but Johanthan Mountford and David Woolatt held firm when facing the last few balls to ensure their team weren't bowled out.
