MEMBERS of Pentathlon Hereford gained two prestigious team awards at the National Pentathlon Championships in Solihull.

Rebecca Wreyford, Charlotte Smith and Molly and Deryn Cressey Rogers won gold in the under-13 girls category, with Wreyford also gaining silver with an outstanding performance in her fencing, winning 22 out of 24 bouts.

There were equally outstanding performances from her team mates, with Smith taking a staggering 13 seconds off her 800m personal best time.

Success also came for the under-15 girls with a team silver for Lottie Trevethan, Louise Sadler and Lottie and Emily Rogers.

Trevathan came in sixth with an excellent ride and fence.

“We are being noticed nationally for our sporting excellence and appetite to continually improve, so much so athletes from across the country are interested to come along to our training days at Lucton School," said Rachel Wreyford, chairman of Penthalon Hereford.

"We are also building a weekly training schedule, again at Lucton School, for athletes of all ages and abilities to enjoy developing their techniques within a positive environment.”

Anyone who is a good swimmer and is aged eight or over are encouraged to pop along to a selection trial for a national talent pathway at Lucton School.

Running trials will be held from 6.30pm to 7.45pm on Tuesday, July 7 and Thursday, July 9, with swim trials from 8pm to 9pm on the same days.
