THREE records broken at the annual Herefordshire Sprint Triathlon as winner Andrew Boyd recorded the fastest swim, run and overall time on the Leominster course.

He finished in an overall time of 54:48 after completing the 400 metre swim in 5:20, the 20km bike route in 32:00 and the 5km run in 17:28.

In second place was Robin Woods in 56:15 with Hereford triathlete David White finishing in third place in 56:15.

Hereford triathlete Christie Jones was the first woman home and finished in seventh place overall in 59:12.

Second place was taken by Leominster triathlete Lauren Turvey competing in her first ever sprint race in a time of 1:01:20 and Kristie Harper from Hereford Triathlon Club took third place in 1:06:26.

Mike Pfeiffer from Hereford Triathlon Club was the first super veteran (50 plus) and finished in fourth place overall in 58:33. The first male veteran (40 plus) was Peter Whitby who finished in 59:18. Martha Recordon was the first female veteran to cross the line in 1:11:12 with Caroline Corbett from Tewkesbury Tri Club winning the female super veteran category in 1:17:09

Local athletes took the top honours for the juniors too with Toby Austin from Ludlow Junior Tri Club finishing in 1:03:01 and Lydia Stratford from Hereford Triathlon Club finishing in 1:09:29. Both are pupils at Hereford Cathedral School.

More than 150 competitors took part in the event which is held at Leominster Leisure Centre and the Earl Mortimer College. More than a third of the athletes were taking part in their first ever triathlon.

Bodenham-based cycle clothing company Get In Gear also donated prizes to the fastest male and female cyclists which were won by David White (31:34) and Christie Jones (32:55).
