THE demanding Darrens Dash Hill Race is set celebrate its tenth anniversary.

Since its first running in 2006, the race, arguably the toughest in the county, has attracted competitors from across the UK to village of Longtown to take on the tough, hilly course on the eastern edge of the Black Mountains.

This year the course, which is just under six miles long with 1,500ft of ascent, includes a section in Wales for the first time.

It will take place at 2pm on Saturday, June 6.

The sponsoring club is Wye Valley Runners, hill safety cover will be provided by Longtown Mountain Rescue Team and the event centre is Longtown Community Primary School. A family fun run, Canicross race (with your dog) and children's entertainment will be available together with refreshments, and 10th anniversary T-shirts will be given to the first 100 entrants.
