GREYHOUND made light of more injury problems to depart Midlands 4 West (North) with all guns blazing.

An amazing second-half showing saw the relegated Dogs overturn a 14-point deficit to record a stunning 40-14 victory over visiting Market Drayton.

Secretary Barry Morris said:?“Injuries have plagued us this season and we haven’t been able to put out a settled side. I know it sounds biased but we don’t deserve to be relegated.

“We have turned up every week to play competitive rugby even if we only had 14 players. Relegation is difficult for the lads to swallow as they have given their all. I am proud of them.”

Greyhound trailed by two converted tries at the turnaround but a passionate half-time team talk paid dividends. They restarted with a real determination, No.8 Elliot Phillips powering through from halfway to go over within a minute.

Matt Eden converted and Greyhound were soon in control, with Phillips going over again and Darren Braithwaite, who bossed the back line, then exploiting a quick tap penalty, Eden landing both conversions.

Straight from the kick-off, a break by Ed Howarth sent Matt Catterall over for his first try for the club. Full-back Nathan Morris then picked up the ball on his own 22 to sprint the length of the pitch to go under the posts and in the last minute, Phillips burst through to complete his hat-trick, with Eden converting both.

Bromyard wrapped up their season with a tight 13-9 win over Tenbury while Ledbury swamped Pershore 53-25 in Midlands 3 West (South).
