GREYHOUND suffered a crushing defeat at table-topping Cleobury Mortimer in Midlands 4 West (North), finishing on the wrong end of a thumping 89-3 scoreline.

Rampant Cleobury, who have now won 16 of their 17 matches this season to achieve promotion, and piled up over 800 points, took control from the outset, though Greyhound never stopped battling.

Their sole score was a penalty from the boot of Matthew Eden.

Bromyard fought tooth and nail before going down 36-26 at home to Rugeley in the same division to leave them in eighth place in the league.

But it was better news for Ledbury, who swamped lowly visitors Manor Park in Midlands 3 West (South).

Ledbury, who are in fourth place in the league table, were on fire, and almost topped three figures.

However, they had to rely on just the 92 in their convincing 92-8 win.

Matt Hallett and Dave Bromage led the way with four tries apiece and others came from Chris Stokes (2), Ali Park (2), Gary Nicholson and Kev Murphy. The pick of the tries was from Stokes, with a blistering run down the line.

Another high-scoring game at Bishopton saw Ross-on-Wye lose 50-26 in Gloucester 2 of the South West Division that leaves their promotion hopes hanging by the smallest of threads.

Ross are now seven points off second-placed Bishopton with only two games left to play.
