WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards says he has been left frustrated this season by his side's league form.

The Hereford side are currently eighth in the Midland Premier Division table and have struggled to challenge at the top end of the table.

Westfields have lost their last games going into Saturday's trip to Walsall Wood.

They will then turn their attention to the League Cup when they play their second-leg tie against Long Eaton United on Tuesday.

Westfields won the first leg 1-0 and will be hoping for a big attendance at allpay-park for the return leg, which kicks off at 8pm.

"We have been no where near challenging for the league, which is a bit disappointing, but we have been without key players," said Edwards.

"We never started the season and we had no strikers.

"Normally the teams with the biggest budget can pull in the big names, but teams like ourselves should still be up there based on our football philosophy.!"

Edwards said the mindset will be to win the second leg rather than try and hold onto their lead.

"We're not good enough to defend for 90 minutes," said Edwards.

"If everyone is fit, we will score.

"We've got to make sure that we keep the ball out of our net."

A number of players who have been unavailable recently, such as Josh Poole and Marcus Palmer, are due to return this Saturday.

But suspensions and inlegibility issues means that Westfields could have a stretched squad for the cup game.

Last Saturday, Westfields lost 2-1 at home to Shepshed Dynamo, with Tom Bendall scoring the Hereford side's goal.
