AN 11-year-old Hereford gymnast has returned with two medals, a gold and a bronze from the men's gymnastics National Club development level 3

Competition at the GMAC centre in Birmingham.

Brad Lewis represented the South West region as a member of a team of five gymnasts and competed against eight other teams from all over the country.

The South west team performed outstandingly and after competing on six pieces of apparatus and conditioning exercise, went on to win the competition, beating the second-placed team by more than six marks.

As well as a team gold, Brad successfully gained an individual bronze medal after finishing in third place .

It was a remarkable achievement for the Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School against 46 other competitors.

The youngster's highest score was 9.80 out of 10.00 on both the pommel horse and conditioning exercise. Brad is coached by Karen Brewer at Fromeside Gymnastics Club in Bristol. Encouraging Brad at the competition included his mother Eleanor Lewis, grandmother Margaret Daniels and friends Zoe Preece and Sam Board who have all been involved in the former Harlequins gymnastics club.
