BROMYARD failed to earn a losing bonus point as they went down to a disappointing home defeat against Barton under Needwood in Midlands 4 West (North).

The visitors took advantage of a well organised pack to dominate possession with an early try setting the pattern of the game.

Bromyard did get three tries of their own from coach Pat Hill, John Parker and Jamie Gibbs, but ultimately they were not enough.

Their other points came from the boot of Chris Rowberry, who kicked over two conversions and a penalty.

The loss leaves Bromyard in sixth place in the division going into their away game at Bishops Castle.

In the same league, Greyhound suffered a 20-14 home defeat at the hands of Telford Hornets that leaves them deep in trouble at the wrong end of the table.

The Hereford side have just six points and must feel that they have to beat bottom club Tenbury at home this Saturday.

There was joy for Ledbury though as they secured a 26-12 win against Southam in Midlands 3 West (South).

The Ross Road side are sixth in the table and will fancy their chances of getting a positive result at Upton-on-Severn this Saturday.

And Ross secured a resounding 38-0 away win at Old Elizabethans in Gloucester 2 of the South West Division.
