DIRECTOR of rugby Alex Davidson was left frustrated after Luctonians were denied a losing bonus point against Chester in National League Two (North).

The Kingsland side matched their opponents for large spells and led 24-13 after 54 minutes.

But errors enabled Chester to get back into the match and they powered on to win the game.

"It was probably our best performance on the road, but we lost our composure at set pieces," said Davidson.

"A couple of individual errors by Brett Prior, who came in for Ben Williams at nine, took it to 27-24 to them and they snatched another try at the death to cost us the losing bonus point."

Chester, who are third in the division, took the first points from a Will Goodwin penalty, but Luctonians got back into the game when Geraint Langdon found Joe Doyle to score close to the points.

Langdon slotted over the conversion before adding a penalty.

Chester hit back with a try from Guy Ford, with Goodwin adding the conversion, but Luctonians came good again with Doyle finding the space to cross over the line for his second try.

Tom Jones converted it, but Chester went in front from a Goodwin penalty.

But an interception of an attacking move from Jones saw him score a try, which he converted.

Chester upped the tempo though and Ross White forced his way over, with Goodwin kicking over the conversion before adding a try hismelf.

White then added another to secure the 32-24 win.

Luctonians will be hoping for better luck this Saturday when they entertain Harrogate.
