ROSS were left disappointed after Bishopton scored late points to earn a 44-20 win in South West Division Gloucester 2.

Ross were expected to win the game and went into the match second in the table.

But injuries to scrum half Craig Powell and hooker Craig Boughton in the warm-up resulted in them having to make late changes.

Bishopton opened the scoring in the far left-hand corner but Ross hit back with two well-taken penalties from Hew Bellamy.

But another set piece close to the Ross line led to Bishopton adding another try, which was converted on the stroke of half-time.

Bishopton added another penalty to go 15-6 ahead, but Ross reduced the deficit when Gavin Oates crashed over to score, with Bellamy adding the conversion.

Ross nearly took the lead after a great break from centre Tom Davies put Simon Gwynne clear, but his pass could not find winger Kieran Smith and Bishopton cleared their lines.

That proved costly as Bishopton added another converted try to go 22-13 up which took the game away from Ross.

Three more tries were then scored before Bray added a late consolation for Ross.
