A YOUNG Bromyard autograss ace has retained his British Junior Championship.

Rhys Griffiths, aged 15, retained his title after coming out on top over the five rounds at Scunthorpe, Pembrey, the Yorkshire Dales, Stroud and the Cwmdu club's track near Kington.

The teenager, who is a member of the Severn Valley Autograss Club, is following in the footsteps of his parents Mark and Claire, both of whom are former national champions.

While he is still young enough to compete in the junior section, Rhys is already looking ahead to some new challenges.

"Rhys has one more year at junior level," said Mark. "But he also won in the Junior Special open wheeler class so if he gets tired of driving his Mini, he could concentrate on that.

"We would like to thank our sponsors Thomas Panels and Profiles from Leominster, Perrott Building Services from Leominster and Top Garage in Bromyard who have been such a help to us."
