Hereford Roller Girls' Horror Bulls' season had a disappointing end when they were beaten 188-106 in the quarter-finals of the Heartland Series Roller Derby Finals by Plymouth City Roller Girls in Newark.

The Bulls went into the finals unbeaten in 2014 and as Division champions.

Hereford have never played with a full roster of 14 skaters and 12 skaters were rostered for the game against Plymouth but, after the Devon side had taken an early lead, the Horror Bulls suffered a huge massive blow in the first half when Louise Braithwaite suffered a broken wrist.

Although down to 11 skaters, Hereford didn't stop fighting and Kim Wild was awarded Most Valuable Player for the Bulls thanks to strong blocking and fantastic jamming.

She scored a massive 25 points in a single jam to massive applause from the crowd.

Kelly Michael was awarded a much deserved best jammer and Bulls' head coach Zoe Butler was best jammer. Bonus awards were awarded to Kelly Prosser and Mandy Counley-Worrall.

"We gave it our all but it just wasn't to be," said captain Becce Turner. "We suffered massively with the loss of Louise, who has been incredible for us this season, and Plymouth were brilliant. Despite the loss, we enjoyed the game immensely and they were fantastic sportswomen."

Plymouth went on lose in the final to Romsey Town Rollerbillies.

Hereford's skaters were among some of the best in the entire tournament, which comprised of 24 teams from across England and Wales. Zoe Butler was third best blocker in the entire tournament, and 'best in division' awards were also presented to Butler, Julie Truelove, Michael, Turner and Wild.

Next year will also see The Bulls compete among 70 teams in four tiers across Britain in the British Roller Derby Championships.
