HEREFORDSHIRE and Worcestershire ladies' 60 team have beaten their Surrey counterparts to win the National Inter Club Competition.
"I think it is the first time the ladies have won the competition," said Leominster's Jenny Ellerton, who was part of the team.
"It is a pretty amazing win to beat Surrey, who have 189 clubs, while Hereford & Worcester only have about 49 clubs."
The finals were held at the David Lloyd Club in Dudley with Herefordshire & Worcestershire represented by Pauline Fisher, Jenny Ellerton, Sarah Snell and Dee Smith, with Surrey beaten 3- 2 in a close and exciting finale.
The tie was played as two singles followed by three doubles.
After four matches, the score was 2-2 with all resting on the final doubles between the first pairs from each county.
Herefordshire & Worcestershire won the first set 7-6 in a nail-biting tie-break and took the second 6-2 to win the title.
Carole Siviter had played for the team throughout the summer, but unfortunately was abroad for the finals.
