Westfields 3 Heath Hayes 2

WESTFIELDS are up to third in the Midland League Premier Division but left it late before securing their win against lowly Heath Hayes.

The home side made a promising start with Jamie Cuss and Zac Sirrell testing the Hayes keeper.

And Fields' pressure paid off on the half-hour when a Cuss through ball sent Carl Morgan clear to shoot home.

Left-back Harry Phillips fired wide as the visitors threatened a comeback.

But, in first-half stoppage time, Westfields extended their lead when Joel Edwards came forward to head in a Craig Jones corner.

After the break, Hayes moved on to the attack and, although Nathaniel Lewars should have extended the home lead against the run of play, midfielder Eately pulled a goal back after Sam Gwynne was caught in possession.

The visitors pressed on and, five minutes later, drew level when skipper Joe McNulty scored from the penalty spot.

Degville shot at Matt Gwynne as Hayes went after the win.

But it was Fields who snatched the points two minutes from time.

Cuss was upended in the area and a penalty was awarded.

Lewars' weak kick was pushed out but only as far as Cuss who shot home the winner.
