A below-strength Luctonians side were comfortably seen off by a powerful Sedgley Park outfit in National Two North.

"We were missing five or six due to injury and other obligations," said the Mortimer Park club's director of rugby Alex Davidson.

"And there was also a knock-on effect from a tough game against the leaders Ampthill the week before.

"But we really gave them four scores and missed a couple of good opportunities ourselves - a losing bonus point for four tries should have been in reach."

The visitors made a good start with Adam Knight going over in the corner with only four minutes played.

But the home side took command and ran in seven scores through Richard Wainwright, Andrew Riley (2), Matthew Lamprey (2), Christopher Wilkinson and Tom Leader with the outstanding Stephen Collins adding four conversions and two penalties.

Luctonians' only other score was a 70th minute try from Geraint Langdon which he converted himself.

The Kingsland side will look to get back to wining form when they entertain Birmingham & Solihull on Saturday.

"We should have Ashley Horner, Jimmy Norris, Alex Rumsey, Will Burton and Jake Cheshire back, while John Kelly may also have got over his shoulder problem," said Davidson.

"We have been targeting this game and a good performance would set us up for the trip to Preston, who have not been doing that well, the following week.

"We're still aiming for 8-10 points this month.
