Already ranked as the No 1 Golf Course in Gloucestershire and with its resident Head Professional Tim Hall, winner of the prestigious Foremost PGA Professional Award in 2013 ahead of some 1100+ Golf Professionals in the UK, Ross Golf Club continues to flourish and to improve its facilities.

Since Tim arrived in 2012 and established the Tim Hall School of Golf the club has improved its practice facilities including a 300 yards driving range and an extensive short-game practice area. A new initiative launched on 18th October brings to the club the most advanced technology available to help players continuously improve their golf. The THSG Performance Lab comprises three distinct sections. First, the Swing Lab is a multi-purpose room that has been designed for simulation play and hi-tech video analysis for lessons with a 5 x 4 metre screen. Players will be able to try out the latest clubs or have lessons with Tim and his team of Assistant Professionals. The teaching software is the most advanced available anywhere in the country and videos of one’s golf swing with a running commentary can be sent online to enable players to study in the comfort of your own home. The Swing Lab can also be booked for players to play any one of 15 of the top courses in the world and with the ability to change the playing conditions to make the selected course easier or more difficult! What better way to spend a wet winter’s evening (all for £25/per hour for four players)!

The second element of the Performance Lab is the Putting Hub which has its own indoor double-breaking putting green. This will be managed by Assistant Professional Oli Leett and houses the latest video analysis technology. Oli has recently achieved accreditation as an Aimpoint putting coach, one of only 6 in the UK and among top professionals who are following the Aimpoint putting techniques are Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington and, among the ladies, the world No 2 Stacy Lewis

The third element of the Performance Lab will be a fully-equipped Workshop run by Assistant Professional Paul Finch. This workshop will offer a full club repair service, customisation of equipment and also a full trolley repair service

The THSG Performance Lab was officially opened by Ross on Wye Golf Club’s own Brian Huggett MBE who played in the Ryder Cup on six occasions and captained the Great Britain & Ireland team in 1977. On complimenting the club, and in particular Tim Hall, for this latest initiative Brian stated that ‘‘ this is the most advanced technology that I have come across and puts The Ross on Wye Golf Club at the forefront of golf clubs in the UK in terms of teaching facilities ’’
