Lads Club 1 Bromyard Town 1

LADS Club assistant boss Richie Jones has tipped Bromyard Town for the West Midlands League Division One title after the sides shared the points at the County Ground.

"It was a good game with two contrasting styles of play," said Jones. "A draw was a fair result.

"With the resources they have, Bromyard should win the league but I don't think we were in any way inferior to them."

Dorian Colling was thwarted by Lads Club keeper Steve Bell on three occasions in the first period when Bromyard's Tom Hobbs hit the bar with a long-range effort.

At the start of the second period, Steve Dixon's shot was well saved by Dean Smith, a shot by Richie Maturi was blocked and Dave Eckley's effort deflected wide as Lads Club went on the attack.

Against the run of play, Bromyard took the lead when Ashley Banner shot home from a 20-yard free-kick with the referee ensuring that the Lads Club wall was retreating the full 10 yards.

Lads Club were unhappy with the goal and upped the tempo which brought the equaliser they deserved.

Both home centre-backs went forward for a corner and Dale Richards beat Liam Jones to the ball to head into the top corner.
