LUCTONIANS Ladies Touch Rugby squad have hosted their first tournament under floodlightsat Mortimer Park.

The event involved six teams from five clubs, Bromyard, Luctonians, Ross, Rhayader and two teams from Greyhound.

Each team brought a good amount of support so a large number of spectators cheered the ladies on.

The overall winners were Bromyard who beat Ross in the final with Luctonians third after beating Rhayader into fourth in their play-off .

The two teams from Greyhound came fifth & sixth respectively.

Luctonians Ladies manager and captainJacky Clarke was delighted with her team's performance.

"It was the first time a lot of our girls had played a competitive game so to finish third overall against some much more experienced teams was brilliant," she said.

"The girls got more confident as the night went on and began to demonstrate the skills we've been practising in training.

"I'd like to thank everyone for coming down to support the event, RFU Development Officer Pat Hill for officiating and the club and committee for backing our new initiative. We're now looking forward to a number of similar events hosted by the other clubs."

Club Chairman Sam Whiteman, who attended on Friday evening, added: "Luctonians Sports Club is committed to increasing the range of sports available to the local community. The club will fully support them in their ambition to enter a team in the West Midlands Touch Rugby league next year.
