LADS Club have relaunched an initiative aimed at getting disabled youngsters in Herefordshire to play football.

The sessions run every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm at thePoint4 and is for boys and girls of secondary school age.

There are also opportunities to compete against similar teams in Worcestershire and Shropshire in a Three Counties League.

"The club have always believed in promoting sport to children and young adults of all abilities," said Lads Club welfare officer Jamie Wright, who helped develop the sessions.

"These sessions will allow both the parents and players to be part of the community spirit of the club.

"Every child deserves the right to play sport in a safe and caring environment.

"We're looking to promote the sessions within local schools and specialists centres where children and young adults with disabilities attend."

The Hereford club have raised over £4,000 to help develop the sessions and provide a kit for the players.

Member Louis Baker said he enjoys the sessions because he likes scoring goals and having fun with his friends."

"I think my football is getting better and I really like being part of a team," he said.

"I think the new kit is great and I hope some more players will come and join the team."

Meanwhile, the first team lost 2-0 at home to Trysull in West Midlands League Division One last Saturday.

The result leaves Lads Club ninth in the table going into this weekend's derby against Bartestree.

Prior to the game, Wem had lost all of their opening six games.
