THE latest addition to Luctonians' impressive Mortimer Park headquarters is a £53,000 set of floodlights.

"We got a grant of £22,000 from the RFU and we raised the remainder in loans from our members," said president Dave Thomas.

"They went big into it because they want to support whet we are doing here.

"Now we have lights for our youth and school pitch."

The club's new grandstand, which has now been open for 12 months, had previously had an open space beneath it.

But this has now been converted into a fully-equipped gym to help improve the fitness of the squad.

The on-going improvements at the ground come as a result of major off-the-field support.

"A big thank-you must go to the vice-presidents, sponsors, supporters and friends without whom this club simply couldn't function at the level of sport that we do," said Thomas.

"Moreover, we couldn't provide the facilities that we all enjoy for the young people in our community to develop."
