HEREFORDSHIRE Fencing Club members have had a successful start to the new season.
Alex Cupper was the gold medal winner in the under-9 boys' foil while Alice Watson won the silver in the girls' under -4 Premier series competition in Bristol.
At the Cardiff Leon Paul Junior Series Foil competition, Theo Eggar and Alice Watson were awarded medals for third and second place in their respective age groups and there were encouraging performances from the other fencers.
Cardiff Leon Paul Junior Series: U9 Boys, Theo Eggar 3rd; U11 Boys, Ellis Shepherd 13th; U11 Boys, Alex Cupper 7th; U13 Girls, Sophie Peake 9th; U15 Girls, Alice Watson 2nd; U15 Boys, Will Hayden 6th.
Herefordshire Fencers are now challenging for top places in foil and epee across the age-groups at regional and national competitions.
Coach Dan Robinson has been selected for the England team for the Commonwealth Fencing Championships.
