DESPITE only arriving at the ground five minutes before kick-off, Lads Club put in another fine performance to ensure they came away from Shenstone Pathfinder with three points in West Midlands League Division One.

Traffic on the M5 meant that Danny Moon's players had to change on the team bus to ensure that the game started on time.

Late withdrawals also meant that Lads Club were not at full strength, but they put their woes behind in fine style.

The decisive goal came in the second half when a long throw by Henry Hastings was nodded on by Moon for Maturi to head into the roof of the net.

The win ensured Lads Club jumped to fourth place in the table.

"It was another great battling performance by the team," said Lads Club assistant manager Richie Jones.

"It was hard to try and play football on a small, very bumpy pitch."

Bartestree grabbed their first win of the season following a 1-0 win against Trysull.

The three points leaves Chris Haynes' team 14th in the table.

But Ledbury remain deep in trouble at the bottom of the table after losing 4-1 against Stone Old Alleynians.

New signing Jonathan Owen grabbed Ledbury's goal, but that was their only joy on a sorry afternoon that saw them lose their sixth successive game.Pete Boyle and Zac Blood's struggling side now face two further away games over the next two weeks, starting with a local derby against Lads Club.
