BROCKHAMPTON remain in fifth place in the Birmingham League Premier Division despite a hammering at lowly Kidderminster Victoria.
In the absence of skipper Ben Stebbings, his stand-in Chris Boroughs elected to bat after winning the toss and was quickly left to rue his decision as the first five wickets in Brockhampton's strong batting order went down for only 45 runs.
Lower middle-order batsmen Nick Powell (36), Jack Aldous-Fountain (21) and Oli Cross (13) did their best to repair the damage but they were only able to raise the total to 133, with Gareth Williams taking 5-36 for the home side.
When Boroughs trapped Matthew Pardow leg-before with the first ball of the Kidderminster reply, Brockhampton hopes were briefly raised.
But these were soon snuffed out as Richard Kimberlin (47) and Michael Hill (68 not out) compiled a partnership of 127 for the second wicket to steer the home side to the brink of victory before Kimberlin was caught by Adam Hewlett off Powell.
Herefordshire all-rounder Neil Pinner came in to help Hill to inch Victoria over the line.
