DAVID Whitehead is the 2014 Ross Seniors Champion after the 14-handicapper delivered a near-perfect 18-holes medal 'Rory' round to win the club's annual Seniors Championship in which 89 members took part.

His superb round started impressively with seven pars and just two dropped shots to par in his front nine holes and with a further four pars on his back back holes, David's gross 79 medal score, nett 65 meant that he won two Trophies on the same day, a feat last achieved more than a decade ago.

At the club's presentation evening in September, he will receive the Carton-Kelly Cup for his gross score, and the Marsh Allan Trophy for his nett score, although his two-shot handicap reduction comes into immediate force.

Gross medal event: 1 David Whitehead 79, 2= Barry Norton and Bill Day 80, 4 Mike Harris 81, 5 Gwynne Morgan 82.

Nett medal event: 1 David Whitehead 65, 2 David Thrower 69, 3= Arthur Reid and Richard Matthews 70.

Neil Lancett's Ross A team won 6-0 in their latest North Glos Division 3 Foursomes match against visiting Cotswold Edge GC.

Another victory in their penultimate match of the season when their Cleeve Cloud GC counterparts visit Ross will guarantee promotion for Lancett's team and see them competing in Division 2 in 2015.
