WORMELOW skittled visitors Malvern out for just 44 runs as they won by 120 runs at Kennel Field.

The hosts got to 164 all out inside 45 overs before the bowling of overseas players Jamie Banfield and Luke Williams blew the visitors away.

Wormelow captain Ben Owens said: “It was a good win in the end – we were disappointing with the bat but we bowled well.

“We lost a few soft wickets so we let them get more wickets than they earned – in hindsight it looks a fine win.”

Wormelow recovered well from the early loss of Jamie Banfield’s wicket with just two runs on the board and Owens himself top scored with 55.

He said: “It was a bit of struggle at times to be honest, but it is nice to get a score when you’re out of form.”

Luke Williams took 3-15 and Jamie Banfield took 4-5 despite not opening the bowling a decision that Owens is happy with.

Wormelow now go into a bank holiday double header this weekend with two games in three days.

Owens said: “It will be nice to go into the next two games with a bit of confidence if we can win at least win of them we’ll be happy.”
