A 15 year old Herefordshire schoolboy from Bishop's School has won the title of Shropshire and Herefordshire's Under 16 Golf Champion 2014. Alec Tate, who is a member of Burghill Valley Golf Club, out-played other high-achieving golfers from the two counties to shoot a gross score of +3 over 36 holes (shooting +4 then -1 on two 72 par courses) at Hawkstone Park in Shropshire. Alec will now go on to represent Shropshire and Herefordshire at the Midlands Regional Champion of Champions competition at The Nottinghamshire Golf Club, in September.

Alec has played for Shropshire and Herefordshire County Under 14's, Under 16's and Under 18's, beginning his county career at 12 years old.

Other notable achievements this season have included a joint 3rd gross score in the Men's Herefordshire Golf Championships and 3rd gross in the Men's Burghill Valley Golf Club Open. He is looking forward to his next match, as part of the Men's Herefordshire Golf Team, when they will play against Powys later on this month.
