TWO key roles have changed hands at Ross Golf Club's annual general meeting with Neville Ovens and Graeme Forrester taking over as president and management committee chairman respectively.

After three effective years as president, Di Honey has handed over to Ovens.

He has already served the Gorsley-based club as club captain in 2004 and 2012, and during his 18 years with the club, has been honorary secretary, chairman of the management committee and chaired the sub-committee which saw the club through a highly successful centenary year in 2003.

His name appearing on several of the honours boards in the Clubhouse lounge, and he will be supported by his wife Jean who stood down at the club's annual meeting after several years of being responsible for the mixed social golfing scene at the club.

Forrester, who has wide experience in golf-club management, succeeds Mike Cooper as chairman of the club's management committee.

Graeme Forrester spent 15 years at Withington Golf Club in Manchester and a further 23 year at Ellesborough Golf Club in Buckinghamshire, where he was club captain and chairman of the Club's Council. His wife Jeanette has just completed her year as Ross Lady Captain.

At the annual meeting, Phil Wilson handed over the club captain's role to Eric Snape.

With support from vice-captain, Clive Whitson, the 'Fancy Dress' Florida Drawn Team Scramble Stableford event meant that his year was kick-started in great style.

Four teams all with 45 points stood at the top of the score-sheet and prizes were decided on count-back: 1 Judith Landau, Peter Chapman, Graeme Forrester and Andrew Hobbs; 2 Lois Price, Joe Irvine, Arthur Reid, Graham Stonadge; 3 Simon Buck, William Cansdale, Roger Morgan, Gary Moyle; 4 Katie Greenwood, Nick Swan, David Williams, Phil Wilson.

There were also nearest the pin prizes for Neil Winter and Dinah Johnston, and the longest drive prize was achieved by Simon Buck.
