Full time: Fownhope 6 Weobley 2 in Herefordshire FA Charity Bowl first-round tie
FOWNHOPE stormed into the second round of the HFA Charity Bowl with a six-goal display at the Recreation Ground this afternoon (Saturday).
Paul Jenkins bagged a first-half brace for the hosts, who romped into a commanding 4-0 lead before the interval.
Fownhope opened the scoring when Ben Price blocked an attempted clearance by a Weobley defender and diverted the ball into the net.
Jenkins doubled Fownhope's lead, running on to a flick from Price before slotting his shot past the advancing John Lewis.
Jenkins headed home Fownhope's third goal in this first-round tie after a long ball had caught out the visiting defence.
And Richie Bufton grabbed Fownhope’s fourth goal with an angled angled drive into the far corner.
Weobley made a flying start to the second half and Paul Williams drilled in a penalty after Chad Canning had been fouled.
James Fussell restored Fownhope’s four-goal cushion but Weobley soon replied through Canning.
However, Fownhope deservedly had the final word in the last minute, Luke Williams scoring with a deflected strike.
