LEOMINSTER student Daniel Petrie starred for the West of England Panthers in their triumphant under-13 boys’ Divisional Hockey Championship campaign.
Daniel, a Year 8 pupil at Earl Mortimer College, scored twice in the tournament as the Panthers won their first championship at under-13 level.
Daniel was the only player from Herefordshire and his team romped into the semfinals after wins over West Scotland, Ireland, North East and BAHA.
Panthers edged past the North-West, 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, and Daniel’s side took the title following securing a 2-1 win over Ireland in the final.
Daniel, who is playing league hockey at Stourport next season, had been selected for the Panthers squad following trials at Exeter University.
He is now looking forward to representing Herefordshire at the under-15 Junior Regional Performance Centre.
