HEREFORD Ladies clinched promotion to Premier Division 2 of the West Clubs’ Women’s League when they pulled off a fine 6- 1 home win over East Gloucester to take the North Division title.

Emily Tompkins was in prime form, scoring four of the goals.

Midfield player Jess Lambert scored the other two.

East Gloucester were well beaten, but their pace in attack always threatened a goal and Sam Jones in the home goal had to be on top form.

Leominster went down twice over the weekend, 8-4 at Jaspers on Saturday followed by a 5-2 reverse when they met BAC on Sunday, but still retain fourth spot.

Hereford brought their Premier Division 3 campaign in the Davis Wood Hockey League to an exciting conclusion when they fought back from 4-1 down to claim a draw in a ten-goal thriller at Cardiff and UWIC.

Hereford went one down but equalised through Joe Thomas.

From 4-1 down they scored through Jonny Morgan, Ewan Bell plus a brace from Colin Amos.

Hereford finished fifth in the table, one place behind Cardiff.

Leominster rounded off their North Division 1 season with a 2-1 home win over Newent and finish eighth.

Ross completed their programme with a 4-3 win over Swansea University.

Hereford 2nd finished five points clear at the top of Hereford and Gloucester Division 1 after coasting to an 8-1 home win over Lydney 2nd.

Joe Smith had an early goal cancelled out, but from there on it was one-way traffic.

Danny Makaruk set the ball rolling and was joined on the scoresheet by Matt Thomas (2), Steve Owen, Tom Clarke, Duncan Tindle plus a second from Makaruk.

Ross 2nd finished well adrift at the bottom of Division 2 after going down 1-0 away to Gloucester 5th.

Ross played well for most of the game but were hit with a late sucker punch.
