Leominster rose to third place in West Clubs’ Women’s League North Division after a double success which brought 12 goals.

On Saturday, a second-half hat-trick from Carolyne Gwynne underlined a 7-0 success against visiting City of Bath.

Liz Ranft and Jackie Duggan had struck for the north Herefordshire club before the interval with Karen Hackley’s brace underlining their superiority in the second period.

In Sunday’s rearranged game with Jaspers, played at Hereford, Leominster powered away again to secure a 5-1 success.

Skipper Carolyne Hughes, Ranft, Hackley and youngster Coralie Granville were on target before Jaspers’ late consolation.

The result rounded off a disappointing visit to the county for Jaspers who had gone down 2-1 to Hereford the previous day. Becky Edwards and Jules Messer scored for the city side.

Hereford’s men also enjoyed success in Premier Division 3 of the Davis Wood Hockey League.

Andy Rogers’ goal earned a 1-0 win at West Wilts.

Presteigne Ladies are in the quarter- final of the Welsh Shield after beating Llan Llan Ladies 3-0. Jess Goodwin (2) and Pru Napolitano got the goals.
