Leominster 2nd hit eight as four-goal Trumper stars

DUNCAN Trumper was the hero for Leominster 2nd in their 8-1 home win over Lansdown 3rd in the N4 Financial Solutions West of England and South Wales League.

Trumper scored four goals in a man-of-the-match display and the defeat has consigned struggling Lansdown to relegation from Herefords & Glos 1.

While in-form Trumper took the plaudits, Pete Morgan, Matt Styles, Harry Ellis and skipper Neil Stokes also scored for a rampant Leominster side.

A hat-trick from Adrian Williams fired title-chasing Ross-on-Wye to a hard-fought 4-2 home victory over Stroud 2nd.

Phil Evans scored the other goal for the table-topping south Herefordshire outfit who remain firm favourites to clinch the divisional crown.

Tom Walton, Sam Warner, Nick Clarke, Kristian Franklin and Matt Saunders worked tirelessly to create chances for the Ross attackers.

Hereford 2nd, who also compete in Herefords & Glos 1, crashed to a 4-2 defeat at a well-trained Cheltenham 4th side.

Hereford were disappointed not to have collected a point after fighting their way from 2-0 to draw level at 2-2.

The visitors were under pressure from the opening whistle and soon fell behind after a shot squeezed past Pete Preece and Geoff Furneaux.

Cheltenham added a second goal before Will Stevens created a chance for skipper Richard Brown to drill the ball home.

A confident Hereford drew level after the interval when Daiyle Door and Steve Alderton combined for Brown to score their second goal from a short corner.

Brown, Ashley Moore, Door and Alderton had chances to put Hereford in front before Cheltenham struck twice to seal the points.

Leominster’s relegation from Premier Division 3 has been sealed after their 7-2 defeat at high-flying Plymouth Marjon 2nd.

Henry Eastman snapped up both goals for Leominster who have been demoted after just one season in the division.

Leominster had been dealt a major blow in their survival bid when they were found guilty of fielding an ineligible player in their win over rivals Hereford.

League officials deducted Leominster three points for the offence and the result was changed to a 5-0 success in Hereford’s favour.

Hereford suffered a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Bristol & West after conceding all of the goals in a poor first-half showing.

Hereford improved after the interval but a scrappy second half, which saw two players sin-binned from each side, yielded no further goals.

A strike from Richard Stewart could not stop Ross 2nd from a 3-1 defeat at Sherbourne 2nd in Herefords & Glos 2.

Charlie Exton was in top form for Ross but Sherbourne deserved their victory.
