Moody scores her first goal in 15 years

A RARE goal from Sue Moody helped table-topping Hereford to a 5-0 home win over Jaspers in the North Division of the West Clubs’ Women’s League.

Moody rounded off Hereford’s victory in the last minute when she scored her first goal in 15 years.

Hereford were dominant from the first whistle and were eventually rewarded with an opening goal from Jess Lambert.

Amy Wilkins doubled Hereford’s tally in the second half and then Lambert notched her second goal of the match.

Emily Tompkins swept the hosts into a four-goal lead before Moody struck to complete the rout and leave Hereford five points clear at the top.

Despite promising displays from Jess Preece and Mary McLeod, an under-strength Hereford 2nd crashed 9-0 at Cirencester in Severn Division 1.

Hereford faced an uphill struggle after travelling with only 10 players and they battled gamely throughout.

Leominster were disappointed to collect only a point from a 0-0 draw at Gloucester 3rd in a hard-fought contest.

Goalkeeper Julie Nicholas and winger Chloe Reynolds took the plaudits for Leominster who missed the influential Kate Holder.

Meanwhile, Hereford Ladies Veterans suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Horsham in the quarter-finals of the EHA Over 35s Plate competition.

Clare Pritchard and Dwyn Jones both went close for Hereford but the West Sussex outfit scored the crucial goal in the first half.
