Victory keeps Ross four points clear

Ross recorded a 5-1 home win over struggling Lydney 2nd to maintain their four-point advantage at the top of the N4 Financial Solutions West of England and South Wales League Herefords & Glos 1.

Tom Walton and Adrian Williams bagged braces for table-topping Ross who scored four times in a strong second-half showing.

Walton put Ross ahead but bottom-of-the-table Lydney hit back to draw level.

Ross improved their display after the break and two quick-fire goals from Williams swept them into a 3-1 advantage.

Walton increased Ross’ lead and then Warner completed the scoring for a Ross side who were inspired by man-of-the-match Matt Saunders.

Leominster 2nd, who also play in Herefords & Glos 1, suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at second-placed Lansdown 2nd.

A hat-trick from Colin Amos fired Hereford to an impressive 5-3 victory at third-placed Plympton Grammar School Old Boys in Premier Division 3.

Ewan Bell opened Hereford’s account and then Amos added a penalty after Joe Thomas was bundled over in front of goal.

A surging run from skipper Andy Rogers created a second goal for Amos who put Hereford 3-0 ahead after 15 minutes.

Amos completed his treble on the stroke of half time before the Plymouth side fought back with a three-goal burst in the second half.

Rogers capped a superb individual display when he bagged Hereford’s fifth goal after a fine run and a reverse-stick finish.

An under-strength Leominster slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Cardiff & UWIC 2nd, also in Premier Division 3.

Hereford 3rd crashed to a 3-2 reverse at Winchcombe in Herefords & Glos Division 2.
