Lansdown 2nd 1 Ross-on-Wye 4 ROSS were one of only two Herefordshire men’s teams to take to the field last weekend and made the most of the situation with a comfortable win against their closest rivals in N4 Financial Solutions West of England and South Wales League Hereford & Gloucester 1.
They moved three points clear of Lansdown at the top of the table.
After a goalless first half, Adrian Williams produced an early reverse stick shot which screamed past the Lansdown keeper and put Ross in front. This proved to be the boost which the visitors needed and they went on to score three more goals.
Phil Evans extended their lead minutes later following good work by the midfield players. And the unmarked striker doubled his tally towards the end, after Matt Saunders had made the score 3-0 when he pounced on a loose ball following a short corner.
Lansdown kept going until the final whistle and were rewarded with a late consolation goal.
l Ross Ladies moved seven points clear at the top of the West Clubs’ Women’s League Severn Division 2 with a 6-1 win at Gloucester 4th.
