ALL three Herefordshire teams that compete in the De Cymru & The Marches 1 division of the GoCrea8 Hockey League won their opening game.

Leominster beat Stroud 4-1 thanks to goals from Nicko Evans, Josh Watkins, Ryan Painter and Dan Petrie, while Hereford saw off Lansdown 4-0 and Ross overcame Cirencester 2-0.

Leominster Seconds also had a good day, beating Gloucester City Fourths 4-0 in Marches 2 thanks to goals from Marcus Emery, Sol Morgan and Charles Mitchel (2).

In the same division, Ross-on-Wye Seconds lost 5-3 to Evesham & Badsey Seconds, while Hereford Seconds drew 3-3 with Cirencester Fourths in Marches 1.

Meanwhile, in the West Clubs' Women's League, Hereford bear North Wiltshire 2-1, but Leominster lost 5-0 at home to Royal Wootton Bassett.

There were also defeats for Hereford Seconds and Ross-on-Wye, but Colwall & Malvern beat Gloucester Fourths 2-0.

Colwall & Malvern Seconds drew 1-1 with Stroud Thirds.

Elsewhere, newly promoted Presteigne started their Premier 1 season with a 6-2 defeat to Howardian.

Jess Goodwin opened the scoring for Presteigne before she added another goal.

But Howardian battled back to score three goals before adding further strikes after the break.

Kington beat Gowerton 2-1 in Division One.
