PRESTEIGNE beat Cardiff University Seconds 3-1 in Premier 2 of the South Wales Women's Hockey League.

Cardiff were strong from the start, but Presteigne managed to assert some pressure on the defence.

Jess Goodwin opened the scoring for Presteigne before a Cardiff player diverted the ball into her own net.

Cardiff managed to pull a goal back after the break, but Goodwin sealed the win with Presteigne's third goal.

This Saturday, Presteigne are home to Swansea University before facing Cardiff Medics the following day in the Welsh Shield.

The team are always looking for new players, with training sessions held each Thursday at 7pm at Kington Leisure Centre.

Meanwhile, Hereford were thrashed 7-0 by Newent in the West Club's Women's Hockey League, Leominster were hammered 12-0 by Old Bristolians, Colwall & Malvern drew 2-2 with Cheltenham Fourths.

However, Ross-on-Wye saw off Painswick 10-0 and are top of Severn Division 3.
