HEREFORD and Leominster both sustained heavy defeats in their latest GoCrea8 Hockey League games.

The two county sides have struggled near the foot of the division all season and they both conceded six goals last Saturday.

Hereford went down 6-2 to West Wilts, while Leominster were beaten 6-0 by Whitchurch 2nds.

This Saturday, Hereford are home to Yate, who are a place below them in the division, while Leominster host fourth-placed Swindon.

There was better news for the clubs' second sides though in The Marches 1.

Hereford overcame Newent 2nd 3-2, while Leominster got the better of Gloucester City 2nds, prevailing 5-3.

Ross-on-Wye's first team were not in action, but the second had a great win, hammering Winchcombe 7-2 in The Marches 2.

In West Clubs' Women's Hockey League, Hereford drew 2-2 with Jaspers and remain seventh in Premier Division 2A.

Leominster, meanwhile, beat Lansdown 4-1 in North Division and are now six points above the bottom two places.

Colwall & Malvern had a day to forget in Severn Division 1 following a 14-0 home mauling at the hands of leaders Cirencester.

In the same division, Hereford 2nds lost 4-1 at home to Newent 2nds.

Ross-on-Wye also lost, going down 1-0 to Cirencester 2nds in Severn Division 2, while Colwall & Malvern 2nds lost 3-1 at home to Blockley in Severn Division 3.

Colwall currently have minus two points due to losing six points for unfulfilled fixtures.

In Premier 2 of the South Wales Hockey League, Presteigne lost 5-1 to Swansea University; Rita Tompkins netting Presteigne's goal.

Kington drew 1-1 with rivals Radnor in Division One.
