FOUR goals by Ryan Painter helped Leominster 2nds thrash Gloucester City 4th 11-1 in the Marches 1 of the GoCrea8 Hockey League.

Edward Healey also helped himself to a hat-trick, while Steve Dobson scored twice.

The other goals were scored by Marcus Emery and Lynsey Ferguson.

Gloucester could have added to their total if it was not some inspired goalkeeping of 13-year-old goalkeeper Nathan Fletcher, making his debut for the second team.

"It was a great result especially to see some of our youngsters have such a pivotal part in the game with Nathan Fletcher playing so well in goal and 14-year-old Lewis Lavenia creating a number of the goals and chances down the right wing," said youth co-ordinator Stephen Mumford.

In the same division, Hereford 2nd drew 2-2 with Cirencester 3rd, while in Conference North, Leominster were thrashed 9-0 by Swindon and Hereford went down 2-1 to Yate.

Ross-on-Wye lost 4-2 to Cheltenham 3rd in De Cymru & The Marches 2, with the seconds being battered 8-1 at home to Wotton-under-Edge 3rd in The Marches 2.

Colwall & Malvern's second team are now unbeaten in two games in West Clubs' Women's Hockey League Severn Division 3 after drawing 3-3 with Blockley 2nds.

Player of the match Neddy Pritchard scored twice for Colwall, with Chloe Hawkins also scoring her first goal for the club.

Colwall's first team beat Gloucester 3rds 3-2 in Severn Division 1 thanks to a winner from Nicky Glover.

Jackie Styles and Katie Smith netted the other goals.

In the same division, Hereford 2nds went down 6-0 to Cheltenham 3rds, but the first team comfortably beat Chippenham 4-1 in Premier Division 2A.

Leominster lost 2-0 at Westberries 2nds in North Division, while Presteigne hammered Bridgend 8-1 in Premier 2 of the South Wales Womens' Hockey League.

Presteigne's goals came from Charlotte Jones (2), Rita Tompkins (2), Charlie Morris (2), Sioned Price and Jess Goodwin.
