HEREFORD Hockey Club secured their first win in Conference North after overcoming fancied Team Bath Buccaneers 3rd 4-3.

The city side had lost their opening three games, including heavy defeats against Robinsons 2nd and Wotton-under-Edge, whereas Team Bath had won all of theirs.

Stew Goodarzi put Hereford in front before Danny Makaruk doubled their advantage.

Bath then scored twice to level the game before half time and took the lead after the break.

But Jon Morgan scored from a short corner routine to make it 3-3 before Kyle Drew netted from a penalty stroke to win the game.

Leominster, who host Robinsons 2nd this weekend, are eighth after losing 5-2 to Firebrands 2nd.

Hereford 2nd lost 5-0 to Gloucester City 2nd in The Marches 1, while Leominster 2nd went down by the same scoreline against league leaders Abergavenny.

Ross-on-Wye are third in De Cymru and The Marches 2 following a 3-2 home success against Cardiff Medics, while their seconds also comfortably placed in fourth place in the Marches 2 table. Their latest win was a 6-2 defeat of Lansdown 4th.

In the West Club's Women's Hockey League, Hereford lost 2-1 at Cheltenham 2nd in Premier Division 2A, while Leominster beat Blockley 4-0 in North Division.

Hereford 2nd recorded their first win of the season after goals from Kelly Higgins, Di Feely and Erica Rogers saw them beat Lansdown 2nd 3-2 in Severn Division 1.

In the same division, Colwall & Malvern comfortably beat Cheltenham 4th 3-1.

There was also a win for Ross-on-Wye in Severn Division 2 after they beat Newent 3rd 3-0, but Colwall & Malvern 2nd lost 4-0 to Bourton & Sherborne in Severn Division 3.

Meanwhile, in the South Wales Hockey League, Jess Goodwin's goal was not enough for Presteigne, who lost 5-1 to Cardiff University 2nd in Premier 2, while Kington drew 1-1 against Sue Noake in Division 2.
