HEREFORD bounced back from their defeat by leaders Swindon the previous week with a conclusive 3-0 success against Bretforton.

The city side are now back up to fourth place in the West Clubs' Women's League Premier 2A table.

Hereford 2nd's good run in Severn One came to an end when they were battered 5-1 at unbeaten Blockley.

The home side raced into a 4-0 half-time lead but, with good work from goalkeeper and player-of-the-match Mel Bryans and defenders Clare Annett, Deri Horan and Alice Steel, matters improved in the second half when Tia Taylor grabbed a goal back.

Below-strength Colwall & Malvern were beaten 3-1 at Shipton Oliffe, who had lost all of their previous six matches.

Shipton scored early on and dominated play in the first period, although Sammie Shail grabbed an equaliser with a strong run from the back before the interval.

Despite a succession of good saves by Jenny Shail, Shipton scored twice more in the second half.

Ross suffered their second home defeat of the season in Severn Two when promotion-chasing Cheltenham 4th left with a 2-1 success.

In Severn Three, two goals from short-corner routines gave Painswick a 2-0 success at Colwall & Malvern 2nd.

Neddy Pritchard, Erica Abbey and Chloe Williamson all played well for the home side.

After seven straight defeats, Kington have moved off the foot of the Premier 2 table in the South Wales Women's League with their first win, a 3-1 success over Newport.

Emma Turner gave Kington a first half lead and they pulled away in the second period with goals from Jenny Layton Mills and Abi Griffiths.

Presteigne are now up to fourth in the table after a 2-0 home win against Barry.

Jess Goodwin, Charlie Morris and Rita Tomkins put together a superb passing movement for Tomkins to open the scoring.

Goodwin added a second before the break with a skilful lob over the Barry goalkeeper.

Presteigne piled on the pressure in the second half but a fine display by the visiting keeper meant that they had to be content with the two-goal margin.
