HEREFORD opened their Davis Wood De Cymru and Marches 1 campaign with a win from a nine-goal thriller at Whitchurch.

The city side had to endure a ding-dong battle before Andy Rogers' goal five minutes from time sealed their win.

Early goals from Colin Amos and last season's top-scorer Stew Goodarzi gave Hereford a fine start but the hosts hit back to level at the interval.

Whitchurch took the lead early in the second period before Hamish Cameron equalised and Hereford then went in front again Tom Clarke guided in a deflected shot.

Whitchurch levelled again from a short corner before Rogers finally settled matters.

Leominster battled away bravely but missed chances were costly as they were beaten 4-2 at Bridgend in Conference North.

The home side took an early lead but Dave Harvey fired the north Herefordshire side level.

Two quick goals put Bridgend in command but Harvey scored again to keep up the pressure.

Leominster sacrificed their goalkeeper for an outfield player but paid for their gamble when Bridgend broke away in the dying seconds to score a fourth goal.
