HEREFORD kicked off their West Clubs Women's League Premier 2A programme with an impressive 5-1 home win over Swanage and Wareham.

Tess Langford scored the first two goals with Erica Rogers also on target as the city side showed some fine form in their first outing.

It was not such a good day for Hereford 2nd in Severn 1 who were beaten 3-2 at local rivals Colwall and Malvern despite taking a two-goal lead.

Sarah Lea pulled back a goal for the hosts who had started the game with only 10 players.

With a full complement in the second period, goals from Sammie Shail and Emma Hughes gave the home side victory.

A nine-player Colwall and Malvern 2nd team were hammered 9-0 at Bourton and Sherbourne in Severn 3.

In the North Division, Leominster returned with all the points from Cirencester following a 5-3 victory.

But it was not such a happy journey for Ross, who were beaten 4-0 at Gloucester 3rd in Severn 2.

Presteigne were left with mixed feelings after their South Wales League Premier 2 debut ended in a 4-4 draw with visiting Penarth 2nd.

Rita Tomkins and a Jess Goodwin penalty flick gave the border club a fine start but the visitors pulled one back before the interval.

Goodwin went on to complete her hat-trick after half-time as Presteigne stormed into a 4-1 lead only to see Penarth, who were relegated from Premier 1 at the end of last season, rally to gain a point.

Kington's season opened with a disappointing 6-1 home reverse against Haverfordwest.
