LEOMINSTER Hockey Club suffered last-day agony when both of their teams missed out on promotion on goal-difference.
For the first-team, it was the second year they have been denied a Championship place on goal difference and this despite scoring all of the goals in a 3-2 win at Bristol & West.
Josh Watkins scored twice and Jack Castle once, with Jim Dunn and man-of-the-match Matt Duggan getting the final touches on own goals but all proved in vain as West Wilts sneaked the second promotion spot with a 1-0 sin at Marlborough.
Leominster 2nd missed out on promotion from Marches 1 despite an 11-0 home win over Cirencester 3rd.
Gwent clinched the title with a 5-3 success down the A49 at Hereford 2nd.
In the West Clubs' Women's League, Severn 2 champions Hereford 2nd dropped their first points of the season on the final day when they were held to a 2-2 draw at basement club Cheltenham CS 2nd.
