DEFENSIVE lapses, including two own goals, proved costly as Hereford resumed their Davis Wood League De Cymru and the Marches 1 programme with a 2-2 home draw against Aberystwyth University.

Goalkeeper Jim Wallis guided a cross into his own net after 10 minutes and then Hamish Cameron also scored past Wallis five minutes later.

But Hereford fought back and were level by half-time.

Cameron made up for his error by scoring at the right end and then Danny Makaruk even things up.

Hereford had the better of the second-half chances while Will Steel was in fine form to deny the students any further chances.

In the division below, Ross had a happier resumption when they returned from the long trip to Pembroke with all the points after a 4-3 win.

Sam Warner fired the south Herefordshire club ahead in the early stages but Pembroke battled back to lead 2-1 at the interval.

Tom Walton's shot was touched in by Cross to level the scores before Rudge put the visitors ahead.

Pembroke levelled the scores again but Warner struck the winner with five minutes remaining.

Hereford's ladies enjoyed an excellent win when they triumphed 4-1 at City of Bath in Premier 2A of the West Clubs' Women's League.

Leominster, meanwhile, travelled to Blockley and picked up a point from a 2-2 draw at Blockley.

Karen Hackley shot Leominster ahead but the visitors missed a good chance to extend their lead when the Blockley goalkeeper saved a penalty.

Blockley equalised with 15 minutes to go but Leominster stepped up a gear and Liz Ranft restored their lead only for Blockley to tie the scores again with five minutes remaining.
