James Morgan is new Ross Golf Club champion

TWO-handicapper James Morgan fired three birdies in the first eight holes and three more on the back nine to take the Ross annual men’s open.

Morgan’s gross 70 medal score won him the title on count-back from visitor and 2011 champion Stuart Hardy.

Secretary manager Leighton Walker, who plays off three, finished third with a round of 72.

Cradoc Wayfarers secured their second away win of the season with a 3-2 success at Llanishen.

The winning pairs were Clive Pearson and Nick Powell (5 and 4) and Brian Nelson and Pat Jones (2 and 1) with a walk-over win for Steve Mathers and Ken Morgan.

Brecon and Radnor men’s county team beat Dyfed at Llandrindod Wells in one of their best displays for some time.

Gareth Jones and Tim Iveson, Ben Davies and Olly Douglas and Richard Gealy and Josh Powell all gained victories in the morning foursomes when there were defeats for Gareth Powell and Mike Davies and Kevin Percy and Josh Davies.

Iveson, Jones, Josh Davies, Josh Powell and Gareth Powell enjoyed wins in the singles and that was enough to secure the success despite defeats for Ben Davies, Mike Davies and Douglas.
